Health Choice Blekinge gives you more opportunity to influence your healthcare. We put the focus on you the patient and give you greater freedom to choose. The choice is yours and the opportunities are numerous.
Welcome to your health choice!
Health Choice gives you more influence over your healthcare. You choose to decide which primary healthcare centre you want to belong to and which receives financial compensation for you. If you´re not satisfied, you´re entitled to make a new choice. If you change primary healthcare centre, the compensation goes with you.
The purpose of Health Choice is to create the best possible healthcare with both high availability and good quality. Greater freedom to choose gives the primary healthcare centres an opportunity to adapt their business on the basis of the needs and preferences of patients.
You can change as often as you like. Once you´ve submitted a new application to change, you´ll receive a confirmation that your choice has been registered and approved. For patient security reasons, a change of primary healthcare centre can take up to one month.
If your choice is not approved, this is because too many people have chosen the same primary healthcare centre. You will receive a confirmation that you have been placed on the primary healthcare centre´s waiting list. The primary healthcare centre then has three months to arrange a place for you. You will be informed in writing when you have been given a place at your new primary healthcare centre.
The primary healthcare centres from which you are able to choose have been approved on the basis of the requirements and conditions set by Blekinge County Council to be able to provide healthcare in the country.
Blekinge County Council´s website contains a list and a brief presentation of all primary healthcare centres from which you can choose.
Specially displayed stickers at the primary healthcare centres also indicate clearly which ones are taking part in Health Choice.

You will have more opportunities
Health Choice gives you more opportunities. Both private and public health providers will be able to start up and operate primary healthcare centres in the county. They will have to satisfy the strict requirements defined by the county council for healthcare and quality. You choose whichever primary healthcare centre you think is best. You can find a list of primary healthcare centres from which to choose together with their addresses at www.ltblekinge.se/halsoval and through our Health Choice Service.
This is how it works:
- If you´re already satisfied with your primary healthcare centre, you don´t need to make a new choice.
- If you haven´t previously made a choice, you´ll be offered the opportunity to belong to the primary healthcare centre that is closest to your home address.
- If you are a parent/guardian, you must also make a choice for children under the age of 16.
- The primary healthcare centre cannot reject your choice.
- You can also choose a doctor at some primary healthcare centres. They do, however, have the right to refuse your selection if the doctor is already fully subscribed.
- If you move home within Blekinge, your choice remains valid until you choose a new primary healthcare centre.
- You can always make a new choice whenever you want.
